Our Boats
Each boat has been built in Stranraer by local residents, embodying the craftsmanship and pride of our community. The Lady Bay was the first St Ayles Skiff built by our club, joined in 2019 by the Milleur Maid. We also have two Wemyss skiffs, named Ailsa and Poppy which were launched in 2021.
All our boats are painted the in yellow, white and blue, which are the traditional town colours of Stranraer.
When We Meet
Rowing sessions happen twice a week, all year round:
- Tuesdays (Summer): Evening sessions from 5:30pm
- Saturdays (Year-Round): Morning sessions from 10am
During our sessions, we take to the waters of Loch Ryan in our beautifully crafted coastal rowing skiffs. From beginners to seasoned rowers, everyone is welcome to join us as we explore the loch, enjoy the outdoors, and share the camaraderie of the club.
If you want to give coastal rowing a go all you need to do is show up to The Boat House in Agnew Park where you’ll be able to talk to club members and get out on the water with a qualified coxswain. No prior experience or special equipment is needed, just a willingness to have fun on the water.
Events & Regattas
Our club attends various regattas in south west Scotland during the summer season, and we host many fun days and socials throughout the year.
We also host our own annual regatta, The Long Ryan event and the Emergency Services Regatta.
In 2025 we are hosting SkiffieWorlds for the second time. This is the St Ayles Coastal Rowing World Championship, where we’ll welcome rowers from around the world.
