Beach Enhancement Works Begin

Today marks the start of our beach enhancement project between the West Pier and the Harbour offices slipway.

We will be removing an old sewer outlet and some "erratic" boulders - ancient stones transported and deposited by glaciers during the ice age.

This work is an important part of our Water Sports Hub project, creating a safer, more accessible shoreline with an extended soft beach area for water sports instruction.

The work will take place during low tides between April 10-16, with possibly two additional days around April 26th. So, you may notice some debris temporarily stored above the high-water mark before it's transported away.

Speaking about the works, John Fenwick, Chair of Stranraer Water Sports Association, said:

"This beach enhancement is a crucial component of our Water Sports Hub project. By creating more accessible and safer shoreline conditions, we are expanding opportunities for the local community to enjoy swimming and learn various water sports in an improved environment."

We look forward to everyone enjoying the improved waterfront soon!
