SkiffieWorlds 2025: Sunday 6 July – Saturday 12 July 2025

SkiffieWorlds 2025 promises to be a thrilling championship with teams from around the world competing on a 2,000m multi-lane course in the sheltered waters of Loch Ryan.

Registration Deadline

Registration closes on Friday 2nd May 2025. Entry fee is £150 per club.

Guidance to Competing Skiffs

Skiffs shall comply with the current Build and Measurement Rules, these have been reaffirmed as being in force for the 2025 St Ayles Skiff World Championships. 

Racing shall be conducted under the SASI International Rules of Racing.

Racing held under these Rules is to be fair, safe, and enjoyable for all.

Age of competitors shall be the age in full years as at the first day of the Regatta (6th July 2025)

When calculating average ages for the 280 events – whole years shall be used and not years and months.

Crews should consist of at least two rowers and a cox from the club that they are representing. Two rowers from other clubs can make up the crew.

All competitors shall wear Personal Flotation Devices with a minimum buoyancy rating of 50 Newtons and may be challenged by boat umpires to show that these are being worn.

Gender – as stated in the Rules. The gender of a rower is the gender in which they live within their community.

Skiffs shall be subject to a weight check and verification for compliance with minimum weight requirements and also shall be subject to a scrutineer check for compliance with the Rules of Racing and equipment required to be carried.

All skiffs shall be required to display their assigned Registered Number at the bow on both sides, the Rules state in numerals of a minimum 20 cm tall, however for practical purposes and sighting over 15 lanes, numerals of 30 cm tall are clearer for the Finish Line Umpires.

Clubs shall have submitted a pictorial template with their hull colours as registered.

Lane draws for each Age Category shall be published and shall be fair and open.

Location

Racing will be held in Loch Ryan accessed via the slipway and beach area to the West of Stranraer Harbour Office, Stranraer Marina, Market Street, Stranraer, DG9 7RE. Additional festival activities will be held at our Skiffie Village, Agnew Park adjacent to Stranraer Marina.
