Stranraer Water Sports Association (SWSA) was set up in January 2016 by the members of local water sports clubs in a bid to promote water sports within the Loch Ryan area. SWSA is a charity with SCIO status, has a board of trustees and employs a part time project manager and water sports instructors.

In 2022 we worked to set up a new Watersports centre which can deliver sailing, paddleboarding and kayaking at an affordable rate for locals. The aim of this centre was to promote the usage of Loch Ryan as a Watersports hotspot in the south west of Scotland. We have successfully become an RYA training centre, British Canoeing provider and BSUPA school to provide progression opportunities for those who catch the watersports bug and achieve certification in the relevant NGB awards.
